Welcome to the Scrum Showdown Development Log!
In this first post, we dive into the development process of creating our rugby-inspired arcade game created for the Women’s Rugby World Cup. The main goal of the project was to create a fun, competitive experience for everyone. The unique arcade machine, with its screen ratio of 1920×360, required us to carefully design the UI and gameplay elements to ensure they fit perfectly, creating a smooth, immersive experience for players while allowing spectators to follow the action in real-time.

In the early development, we focused on refining the core mechanics of the minigames like scrumming, passing, and tackling using placeholder assets and 2D scene. We tested mini games, created mood boards and concept art, and adjusted gameplay to ensure everything felt dynamic and exciting. We also used a testing machine, which allowed us to continuously test the game while the arcade cabinet was being built, ensuring the gameplay was smooth and engaging from the very start.

Stay tuned as we will share more about the development process, challenges, and behind-the-scenes insights in upcoming posts!
